SBLive's 2021 All-North Coast Section football awards
After another strong season of CIFNCS high school football, SBLive has decided on its All-North Coast Section teams for the 2021-2022 campaign.
The primary criteria were individual statistics relative to team success, with strength of schedule heavily factored in. Secondary criteria include all-league honors and the opinions of coaches and scouts within the section. While players were not disadvantaged for only going one way, two-way/three-phase contributions were taken into consideration for players who shined playing multiple phases of the game.
Our awards include three teams – First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mentions.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: RB Justin Guin – San Marin – SR.
Guin led the Mustangs to a Division 5 championship and CIF 5-AA state championship rushing for 2,359 yards and 36 touchdowns on 9.4 yards per carry. He also caught for 137 yards and two more TDs. Additionally, Guin's standout work as a ball-hawking defensive back pushed him over the top as our MVP.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: QB Michael Ingrassia – Marin Catholic – SR.
Another Marin County sensation, Ingrassia led MC to a Division 4 section title and CIF 4-AA state title throwing for 2,713 yards and 34 touchdowns to just two interceptions, good for a passer rating of 136.3. He was also the Wildcats' second-leading rusher with 611 yards and 12 more tubs.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: DB Zeke Berry – De La Salle – SR.
The 4-star Michigan commit and versatile DB was named the Most Valuable Player in the EBAL - Mountain Division. In addition to his usual defensive dominance, Berry also registered 573 all-purpose yards outside of defense.
FIRST TEAM OFFENSE:
QB Jaden Rashada – Pittsburg – JR.
Rashada threw for 2,220 yards and 27 touchdowns to five picks to lead the Pirates to yet another top-two finish in the section and a Division 1 title. If not for an injury in the playoffs, he likely would have bolstered his strong junior campaign even further.
RB Rahsaan Woodland II – Clayton Valley Charter – SR.
Woodland was the top rushing threat in the NCS' upper divisions as a senior, running for 1,577 yards and 12 touchdowns for the third-place finisher in Division 1/Open.
