Teixeira to start rehab stint; Danks activated; Happ to 60-day DL

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira expects to play in his first game since hurting his right wrist in early March, suiting up for a minor-league game with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.
Teixeira, who injured the wrist while preparing with the U.S. team for the World Baseball Classic, has been working out at the Yankees' minor-league complex.
"If everything goes as planned, I'll leave here Tuesday and play in Trenton Wednesday and Thursday," Teixeira said Friday. "That's the plan right now."
With Yankees manager Joe Girardi watching, the All-Star took part in an extensive simulated game with infielder Kevin Youkilis, who is out with a sore back. Along with hitting and base running, the pair played defense between at-bats.
"That was a serious simulated game," Teixeira said. "That was challenging. It was good. It's hot here. We got a lot of good work done."
Teixeira may be ready to rejoin the Yankees in early June. Youkilis looks to start a minor-league rehab assignment soon.
Reliever Joba Chamberlain, sidelined by a right oblique strain, said he is scheduled to throw two innings out of the bullpen Saturday in his second extended spring training game.
"Everything feels good," Chamberlain said. "Continue to build up strength."
New York may not decide on the next step for Chamberlain until finding out how he feels on Sunday.
The Yankees are in Florida for a three-day weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Danks back with White Sox
CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago White Sox reinstated pitcher John Danks from the disabled list before Friday's start against the Miami Marlins.
The 28-year-old left-hander had been sidelined for more than a year by a shoulder injury.
He hasn't pitched since May 19 last season and had surgery in August to repair a capsule tear and remove debris in his rotator cuff and biceps.
He was hoping to be ready for the start of the season, but the White Sox placed him on the 15-day disabled list on March 26. Danks had a career-high 15 wins for the White Sox in 2010, but he was 8-12 with a 4.33 ERA in 2011.
To make room for Danks, the White Sox optioned left-hander Donnie Veal to Triple-A Charlotte following Wednesday's game against Boston.
Happ still recovering from line drive to head
TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays have moved pitcher J.A. Happ to the 60-day disabled list as the left-hander recovers from injuries after being hit in the head with a line drive earlier in this month.
Happ was placed on the 15-day disabled list after sustaining a skull fracture behind his left ear when a liner off the bat of Tampa Bay's Desmond Jennings caught the pitcher on the left side of his head in the game on May 7. Happ dropped to the ground and was carted off the field.
Also Friday, left-handed reliever Darren Oliver was put on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain and Sean Nolin was added to the roster. The rookie is scheduled to make major league debut Friday night against Baltimore.
