Wednesday July 23rd, 2014

Red Sox starter Jake Peavy is "not close" to being traded, according to a report from Jen Royle of the Boston Herald.

Rumors about a Peavy trade had been swirling in advance of the July 31 deadline. The Red Sox are 47-53 and in last place in the AL East, plus Peavy will be a free agent this offseason, meaning the team could be looking to unload him for prospects.
