Mets' Jenrry Mejia has pitched with a hernia for three weeks
New York Mets' closer Jenrry Mejia revealed Sunday he has had a hernia for the past three weeks, but plans to pitch through it anyway, according to the Star-Ledger's Mike Vorkunov.
ESPN's Adam Rubin tweeted the following after Mejia blew a save against Philadelphia that resulted in the Mets' 7-6 loss to the Phillies.
Mejia has experienced trouble in his calf muscle recently and is medicated the problem. He plans to 'pitch through' the hernia, he said, after receiving permission from a doctor Saturday.

"It’s a little bit difficult because when I was in the beginning of the season everything is good, normal," Mejia said. "Right now my leg is tight, my back, got a little bit hernia. I gotta keep going. I don’t want to stop for the season. I want to keep going. I want to keep pitching."
A hernia forms when an or organ or other body part projects through the lining of the cavity it is normally situated in. It is commonly found in intestinal regions.
The demonstrative Mejia - known for his elaborate celebration methods - has 17 saves and 3.68 ERA across 42 appearances this season.
