Since the dawn of time, human beings have yearned to rank things. We scrutinized cave paintings. Nitpicked suits of armor. If you didn’t have a hot take on the top 10 Flemish sculptors of the 17th century, you were exiled from society.

With those lessons in mind, SI would like to introduce you to The 30. Every Monday during the regular season at SI.com, I’ll rank all 30 major league teams, using a variety of criteria ranging from talent to team health, advanced stats to won-lost records. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll tell me I smell and that I’m terribly biased against your favorite team.

As we approach the start of spring training, which teams are primed to make a World Series run? And which are playing for 2018? These questions and many more answered, just as soon as we get Ken Griffey Jr.’s gigantism under control.
