Despite having donated to an anti-Trump group, the Ricketts family now backs Donald Trump for president.
Joe and Marlene Ricketts, the family that owns the Chicago Cubs, has donated $1 million to a pro-Donald Trump Super PAC, according to the Wall Street Journal.
During the primaries, the family was initially against Trump and donated to an anti-Trump PAC that was headed by Wisconsin governor Scott Walker.
“Even though the Ricketts supported other candidates during the primary, they believe it is time to unite behind the nominees,” a political strategist for the Ricketts told the WSJ. “This is all about helping Republicans win in the fall.”
In February, Trump tweeted about the Ricketts family choosing not to support him.
I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me. They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 22, 2016
Pete Ricketts is the governor of Nebraska and has supported Trump for president.
