CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds placed right-handed reliever Emilio Pagan on the 15-day injured list on Thursday. Pagan is dealing with a triceps injury that he suffered against the Dodgers on Sunday.

The move is a bit surprising because it comes just one day after Reds manager David Bell said Pagan was available and healthy enough to pitch out of the bullpen.

Cincinnati promoted right-hander Brett Kennedy from Triple-A Louisville and outfielder Bubba Thompson was designated for assignment.

They play the Padres at 1:10 p.m. ET on Thursday.
