Lakers' Nick Young has 'Air Yeezy 2' Nike sneakers stolen during home break-in

Nick Young poured in 26 points in a rare Lakers win Sunday, only to find out that his home had been broken into during the game and that the thieves had made off with a valuable, beloved pair of sneakers designed by rapper Kanye West. first reported that a home Young has been renting in Sherman Oaks was burglarized during L.A.'s 103-94 victory at the Staples Center on Sunday. The burglars allegedly broke in through a window and took "Louboutin shoes, jewelry, clothes, and Louis Vuitton luggage," among other items.

Young confirmed the break-in to reporters Monday, adding that a pair of the West-designed Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneakers were among the items taken.

"They got me, they stole my Yeezy's," Young said, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. “I wasn’t expecting that. It was tough to get in after a good win to come home to that. ... I’m glad I didn’t have to be in that situation [at home during the burglary]. I don’t know what I would’ve did. I’m shocked they tried to get Swaggy.”

The 28-year-old Young, a native of Los Angeles, has cultivated his "Swaggy P" persona with his wild fashion choices and large sneaker collection. once named Young the "Kicks on Court Champion," a recognition given to the player who wore the best shoes during games.

Over the weekend, Young posted an Instagram photo of himself wearing the all-red Air Yeezy 2 "Red Octobers" alongside West lyrics from the Rick Ross song "Sanctified."

The "Red October" version of the Air Yeezy 2 was released by Nike in February without any advance notice. reported the sneakers, which retailed for $245, sold out in seven minutes.

The sneakers are now being resold on eBay for more than $3,000 a pair.

During his seven-year career, Young has raked in more than $17 million in earnings, and he's on the books for $1.1 million this season while also holding a $1.2 million player option for next season. In other words, he's well-equipped to replace the sneakers should he so choose, assuming the Los Angeles Police Department comes up empty.
