The FedEx Forum in Memphis was evacuated briefly Monday because of a fire alarm.

The alarm was triggered shortly after 2 p.m. CT, about two hours before the Grizzlies were scheduled to tip off against the Mavericks. The alarm was set off by smoke in the arena's kitchen, according to Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Because of the evacuation, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Sports Legacy Symposium on the Grizzlies' practice court was delayed, but the start time of the game would not be delayed, a team executive told Chris Herrington of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

People began re-entering the building about 10 minutes after the evacuation was reported.
