In this story:

The Cowboys front office isn't the only thing newly-minted Packer Micah Parsons has been dealing with these last few months: he has also been nursing a back injury, one that kept him sidelined during training camp (in addition to his contract hold-in, of course).

Although that issue has most likely resolved now that his contract situation has been handled, we still do not know whether or to what capacity he will suit up and play in the Green and Yellow in Week 1, given the short turnaround between now and the start of the season. For now, we'll just have to hang on some comments from Packers GM Brian Gutekunst, who spoke before the media on Friday.

Asked what he thought Parsons could give during the season opener vs. the Lions, Gutenkunst said "we'll have to see."

"He's just getting through the physical right now and we'll have a chance to get him out there Monday and see where he's at," he continued. "We're hopeful that he'll help us in some form or fashion in the opener, but I do think it's on us to be smart and make sure that he's ready to go."

Fair enough. Caution definitely isn't the worst thing at this point, lest Parsons injure himself again and more severely. Ultimately, it sounds like we'll see Parsons out there in some capacity, but maybe with a smaller workload to start.
