Brazilian authorities suggest Lochte, Feigen be indicted for false reporting of a crime
Brazilian authorities have recommended that U.S. swimmers Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen be indicted for false reporting of a crime, ABC reports.
Brazilian news outlet Globo and ABC’s Michael Del Moro first reported that the swimmers had already been indicted.
The Associated Press reported that Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger testified in the case and had checked in for their flight out of Brazil.
Lochte, Feigen, Bentz and Conger initially claimed to have been robbed early Sunday morning in Brazil. After police found no evidence to support their allegations, the swimmers’ story began to unravel, and two of them reportedly admitted to fabricating the robbery.
Lochte and the swimmers instead allegedly vandalized a gas station on Sunday, with the station’s owner telling Globo the swimmers urinated on the walls. While attempting to leave, Lochte and the swimmers were stopped by security.

Security would eventually pull guns on the swimmers to ensure they would wait until the police arrived, Rio police confirmed Thursday. Sources told ABC the swimmers believe the police have hid certain details about the case:
