The Boston Red Sox have made an offer to free-agent pitcher Edwin Jackson according to ESPN’s Jim Bowden’s official twitter account.

“Red Sox have made an offer for Edwin Jackson and are presently in discussions with him and prefer him over Roy Oswalt according to source,” the tweet read.

The Red Sox had also previously made an offer to free-agent pitcher Roy Oswalt for a one-year deal according to CBS Sports, however no decision has been made by Oswalt.  No other details about either potential deal have been disclosed.
