Retired pitcher Mark Mulder to attempt comeback

Retired pitcher and current ESPN analyst Mark Mulder said he will attempt to make a comeback.
Mulder, 36, pitched for the Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals during his nine seasons and had a career record of 103-60.
Mulder retired in 2009 after left shoulder problems and has worked at ESPN since 2011. Mulder said things changed in October while watching Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Paco Rodriguez on TV and says scouts have clocked his fastball at 89-90 mph.
"I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am," Mulder said via ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. "To be honest with you, I never anticipated this five or six weeks ago. It was just a flat-out fluke that came from me trying to imitate Paco Rodriguez in my living room."
"The best way to describe it is, the ball is coming out of my hand better now than at any point when I was in St. Louis," Mulder said. "I wouldn't be trying this is if I didn't think the stuff I was throwing was good enough [to pitch in the big leagues]."
