New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty has been picked by MLS commissioner Don Garber to replace injured New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard on the roster for the MLS All-Star Game, MLS announced on Saturday.

Lampard is dealing with a calf strain sustained during training that has delayed his NYCFC debut. Despite having never played in MLS yet, he and fellow English midfielder Steven Gerrard were Garber's two selections for the roster.

McCarty, who has played for the United States men's national team, has started 18 games for the Red Bulls this year, recording five assists and 10 shots.
