LA Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant to retire at end of season
One of the most successful players in MLS history will be hanging up his cleats at the end of the season.
LA Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant, who is aiming to tie Landon Donovan and win a record sixth MLS Cup, will retire following the 2015 campaign, the Galaxy announced on Wednesday.
In addition to his five MLS Cup triumphs, Dunivant has been part of two Supporters' Shield-winning teams and lifted the U.S. Open Cup once. He has played sparingly for the Galaxy in recent seasons, making 10 appearances (six starts) in the last two campaigns while Robbie Rogers became the club's primary left back. Dunivant has also acted as a leader for the MLS Players Union and served on the five-player executive board that engaged in negotiations over the new collective bargaining agreement.

“Todd has been one of the best ambassadors for MLS on-and-off the field,” said LA Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena said in a team statement. “He has represented both this team and our league exceptionally and has been influential in helping it become what it is today. We’re proud and honored that Todd will finish his career with the Galaxy.”
Dunivant began his career with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2003 before stints with the Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC. He returned to the Galaxy in 2009 and has been there ever since.
He has seven goals and 21 assists in his career.
