Texas A&M has a lot to hold its heads up high about this season as it came one game short of winning the SEC Tournament. The Aggies opened the tournament upsetting and shutting out Tennessee but lost a heartbreaker to No. 4 Arkansas by a 6-5 final in 11 innings. Texas A&M didn't let that sink its hopes though as it won its next three games including a rematch against Arkansas in the semifinals.

Texas A&M faced off against No. 8 Vanderbilt but it could not keep its pitching staff from breaking as the Aggies lost 10-4. The game was tied in the sixth inning before Vandy scored the go-ahead run on a sac bunt. But it was the eighth inning that was their undoing as the Aggies gave up five runs in the eighth to put the game on ice.
Cal State Fullerton meanwhile won its last series of the season against Cal Poly but the Trojans lost their last game of the regular season 5-4. Cal State Fullerton finished the season with a 31-22 record and 20-10 in conference play. That finish was good enough for second place in the Big West but the Trojans got an automatic bid to Regionals because UC San Diego is not eligible. Cal State Fullerton has a lot to prove against Texas A&M but the Trojans will likely benefit from that chip on their shoulder.
