Kansas State looks to stay unbeaten on the year on Friday when it travels to Cal to take on the Golden Bears. The Wildcats got off to a great start on Monday when they beat UT Rio Grande Valley 93-59. They jumped out to a 22-5 lead eight minutes into the game and were never threatened again. Nae'Qwan Tomlin and Markquis Nowell both scored 14 points in the opener to lead the Wildcats and make a winner of first-year head coach Jerome Tang. Another nice part of the night was Keyontae Johnson starting for the first time since he collapsed on the court two years ago while he was at Florida. He would finish the night with 13 points, including three three-pointers.

The Golden Bears did not have as good of an opening night as they were upset by UC Davis 75-65 on Monday night.
They were plagued by a long scoring drought and scored just five points in the last 10:07 of the game to take the loss. The Golden Bears led by six at the halfway point of the second half, but went cold and suffered a bad loss to open the year.
