The Bears weren't able to build on their first win, taking a loss at home on Wednesday night. Kellen Tynes (16.6 points per game) and Gedi Juozapaitis (15.4) power the Black Bears attack under first-year head coach Chris Markwood, who played at Maine for two seasons (2003-05). Kino Lilly Jr. averages 14.2 points a game for Brown while Nana Owusu-Anane gets 11.4 points and 8.0 rebounds a contest. Mike Martin has coached at his alma mater since 2012 and is in his 10th season with a 122-144 record.

The Black Bears coughed up a double-digit lead Wednesday at Central Connecticut State, which came back to tie the game three times but never took the lead. Maine pulled away late for a 66-58 victory. Tynes had 23 points and five steals and Juozapaitis added 22 points and four thefts.
Brown trailed visiting UMass Lowell by eight midway through the first half before flipping the momentum to lead by seven at the break. But the River Hawks dominated the second half en route to a 73-62 win. Paxson Wojcik had 17 points for the Bears and Owusu-Anane added 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
The all-time series is 10-7 in favor of Brown, which has won the last two meetings. The last game was in Providence on Jan. 2, 2019, a 75-67 triumph for the hosts.
