Washington heads down I-5 to Corvallis on Thursday for its Pac-12 opener at Oregon State in college basketball play.

Washington (6-1) won the Wooden Classic last week and returned home for a win over a city rival. On Thursday, the Huskies hit the road to open Pac-12 Conference play at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis against Oregon State (3-4). The Beavers have lost four straight games after a 3-0 start. Kelon Brooks Jr. leads Washington, which has three straight wins, at 16.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Jordan Pope is pacing OSU with 15.9 points per game and Glenn Taylor Jr. averages 12.7 points. Mike Hopkins took over the Huskies in 2017 and is 91-76 in that span. Wayne Tinkle arrived at Oregon State in 2014 and is 119-140.

Washington got rolling in the second half on Monday night, shooting 58.3% after the break, to pull away from visiting Seattle 77-66. Brooks scored 20 points and Braxton Meah added 18 while Cole Bajema dropped in 16 in a balanced attack.

Oregon State finished off an 0-3 visit to the Phil Knight Legacy in Portland with an 83-71 loss to Portland State in the seventh-place game. Pope scored 23 points but was the lone member of the Beavers in double figures.

In a rivalry that dates to the 1903-04 season, the Huskies lead the all-time series 164-144. Washington swept the two games last year, including an 82-72 win at Corvallis on Jan. 20.
