No. 1 South Carolina (17-0) has waited 371 days to get another shot at Missouri (14-4), the only team to beat the Gamecocks in the regular season last year. That loss did not derail a championship run for head coach Dawn Staley and her team; in fact, it galvanized them to become the team that was unstoppable all the way to their second national championship win in the school's history. That win for the Tigers was the biggest of their season for a team that is starting to come together as a real threat in women’s college basketball.

Last season the Gamecocks only had one loss in the regular season, a stunner in overtime to the Tigers (69-70) that was a game-of-the-year candidate.
This season senior star Aliyah Boston has taken a step back to allow fellow senior Zia Cooke the space to step up and lead the team in scoring.
Boston is still a force inside, nearly averaging a double double with 12.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while 57.5% shooting from the field. Cooke leads the scoring with 15.3 points per game.
