For most of the 2022-23 Missouri Valley Conference regular season, it seemed Drake (24-7) had an inside track for the conference title. But as the Bulldogs put together a 10-game winning streak, Bradley was winning nine in a row to set up a winner-take-all battle in Peoria on Sunday. Drake took the loss and landed as the second seed at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis for the conference tournament, known as Arch Madness. Tucker DeVries scores 18.9 points per game for the Bulldogs while Roman Penn averages 12.5 points and 5.3 assists and Darnell Brodie grabs 7.1 rebounds a night. Murray State advanced to the quarterfinals with a blowout of Valparaiso on Thursday.

The Racers held the 10th-seeded Beacons to 32.7 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers while committing just six of their own in a 78-50 romp on Thursday. Jamari Smith scored 19 points, Quincy Anderson added 18 off the bench and Jacobi Wood finished with 13 points, 11 assists and three steals.
Drake comes off a 73-61 loss to Bradley on Sunday. The Bulldogs shot only 38.1%, including 29.0% after halftime. D.J. Wilkins scored 14 points, Penn had 12 points and four steals and Brodie also scored 12 points. DeVries was held to 11 on 3-of-13 shooting.
Murray State will need a major turnaround to advance. Drake blew the Racers out in both meetings, an 82-64 win at Des Moines on Jan. 7 and a 92-68 dismantling in Murray on Feb. 7. The Bulldogs are now 3-2 all-time in the series.
