As the Ivy Leaguer begins its season with a trip to Fisher Stadium, Columbia, opens its 2023 campaign against Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon. Lafayette began its season by splitting its opening two games on the road with a win over Sacred Heart in the opener followed by a loss at Duke last week. Columbia, on the other hand, will open the 2023 season in Saturday’s game at Lafayette with the Lions’ home opener coming next week against Georgetown. Lafayette and Columbia will face off for the first time in 13 years, while the Maroon have won two out of their last three home openers at Fisher Stadium.

Most recently, Lafayette was outclassed on the road in Durham against a red-hot Duke squad in a 42-7 victory for the 21st-ranked Blue Devils last week. The Leopards actually opened the contest with a 13-play touchdown drive on their opening possession, but wouldn’t score again in the game.
As for Columbia, the Lions will begin their 153rd season with interim head coach Mark Fabish taking over for recently retired coach Al Bagnoli. Bagnoli announced his retirement before training camp began in August, with Fabish taking over after serving as an assistant since the 2015 season.
