On Friday night, the two Division-I schools in the University of Massachusetts system meet on the ice, as UMass (9-12-3, 3-10-1 Hockey East) takes on No. 18 UMass Lowell (14-9-1, 8-5-1 Hockey East). This will be the third of three meetings between these schools this year. They first played in late November in Ireland as part of the Friendship Four. UMass won that game 2-1, thanks to two goals from freshman forward Kenny Connors. In total Connors has seven goals this season, tied for the most on the team. The two teams then met a couple of weeks later on Dec. 3 in Amherst. That game was played to a 1-1 tie. UMass Lowell goalie Gustavs Davis Grigals made 36 saves in that one, while Luke Pavicich of UMass made 35.

Coming into this one, UMass Lowell has won two games in a row and four of its last five. The Riverhawks swept New Hampshire last weekend with wins of 6-2 and 3-2.
UMass comes in trying to snap a five-game losing streak. The Minutemen came close to getting back into the win column last week but fell 4-3 to No. 13 UConn.
