The Big Ten is one of the toughest conferences in the country in women’s college volleyball with the sixth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (7-2) and the eighth-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-4) taking the court today. Early this season the Golden Gophers have challenged themselves with one of the tougher schedules in the country, but with that, they have lost four of their first nine matches. It has been a grind, but nearly every four to six games for the Golden Gophers this season has been a mini NCAA Tournament with the tough and challenging opponents on the court.

The Golden Gophers dropped their last match to the 11th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers (0-3) to continue their up-and-down season:
Through nine matches so far this season, the Golden Gophers have faced off with seven of those coming against Top 22 teams. In those matches, they are 3-5 with a combined 12-15 in those games in those matches.
It doesn't get easier for the rest of the season for the Golden Gophers with matches coming against sixth-ranked Badgers (today) and tough teams across the Big Ten still on the schedule.
The Badgers have won their last two matches after losing to the 16th-ranked Florida Gators (2-3) with wins over the Rhode Island Rams (3-0) and the Northwestern Wildcats (3-0) showcasing how good they can be when they are rolling.
