Those two losses for the Cavaliers came to 13th ranked Virginia Tech (27-9) and then eighth ranked NC State (38-3). Those matches taught the Cavaliers a lot about their team and what they need to do to contend with the toughest teams in the country.
Before those losses the Cavaliers took care of business against Duke and American University by a combined score of 81-6 to build some momentum. With just two matches remaining in the regular season, today against the Tar Heels and next week against Pittsburgh, there is no time left for losses if the Cavaliers hope to contend for a championship.
For the Tar Heels, they are winless on the road this season and hope to build off their last win. They have one more road test today against the Cavaliers before closing out the regular season next week against the Blue Devils.
