Jacob Batalon steps into the starring role for the first time after multiple Spiderman movies in Reginald the Vampire. The first season premieres today with Batalon playing a kid that is not quite making it as a human or finding his place until he is turned into a vampire. The show follows him as he awkwardly moves into being a vampire that is not quite making it in this world or finding his place, as the vampire world takes notice of the defective new blood in their ranks. The series stars Batalon as the titular character, Reginald Baskin, along with co-stars Em Haine, Savannah Basley, Mandela Van Peebles and several others that have not had their character names released.

“Dead Weight” is the name of the first episode and is directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik with a script adapted from the books by Harley Peyton and Johnny B. Truant.
This series was created by Peyton and adapted from a series of books titled Fat Vampire written by one of the series writers, Truant. The series title was changed to be more appealing to a wide audience, but still follows a kid named Reginald as he becomes an unlikely vampire in the glamorous, attractive world that they inhabit.
