Hallmark Channel’s countdown to Christmas

Leading up to Christmas time, new movies will premiere on the Hallmark Channel every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8 p.m. Hallmark Channel also airs a nonstop schedule of holiday movies, old and new, every day in December, so there is no shortage of streaming options available to get you in the holiday spirit.

Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas will continue through December, with the first premiere of the month happening Friday, Dec. 2.

Championship Saturday

The matchups are set for conference championship games to kick off at the start of December. With three undefeated teams slated into the lineup, there is a lot to lose before College Football Playoff selections are made.

Selection Sunday

Each Tuesday in November, the CFP Selection Committee has revealed its weekly rankings of the top teams in college football. The final rankings of the 2022 season will be revealed live on ESPN before the official start of the CFP in late December. The committee will also announce the matchups for the Playoff semifinals at the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, as well as the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic pairing.

How to watch

Live coverage of college football’s selection day will begin Sunday, Dec. 4 at 12 p.m. on ESPN. It is scheduled to run for four hours.

The Culpo Sisters

The new reality program featuring Olivia, Sophia and Aurora Culpo wraps up its first season at the start of December. Olivia is best known as a former Miss Universe winner, though all three sisters are now heavily involved in content creation and modeling. Sophia and Olivia are both dating NFL players (Braxton Berrios and Christian McCaffrey, respectively), so the show gives an inside look into the league as both sisters navigate moving teams, free agency, etc.

Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration

This revisited tribute to the classic Beauty and the Beast will feature five-time Grammy winner H.E.R. and four-time nominee Josh Groban to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original animated film. Other stars like Martin Short and Shania Twain will be part of the special, filmed live in front of a studio audience.

World Cup final

After the semifinals wrap up earlier in the week, the World Cup final will take place Sunday, Dec. 18. Right now, the odds point to Brazil as the favorite to win outright (+225), followed by France (+550) and Spain (+650).

How to watch

The final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup will air Sunday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. Network is TBD, but the majority of games up until that point are broadcast on either Fox or FS1.

NBA Christmas Day games

This year marks the 75th edition of the NBA’s Christmas Day games, a tradition that regularly delivers fans some of the most intriguing matchups in the sport, packed with star power for them to follow as they enjoy the holiday. This year is no different, with an anticipated rematch of the 2022 Western Conference finals, plus stars like LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokić included in the slate.

Christmas Day tripleheader

For the first time in league history, NFL fans will have three back-to-back games to watch on Christmas Day. After the first 11 games are shifted to Saturday, Dec. 24, Week 16 of the NFL season will continue with three matchups featuring four 2021 playoff teams, as well as the two most recent Super Bowl winners.

College Football Playoff semifinals

Following the conference championship games, it will come down to its top four teams to battle it out in the College Football Playoff, beginning at the end of December with two semifinal bowl games.

Last year, Georgia beat Michigan 34–11 in the Orange Bowl. The two teams are expected to make semifinal appearances again this season.

Live coverage of the College Football Playoff semifinal games will begin Dec. 31 on ESPN and follow through the two bowl games. The start time of each game is TBD.
