NFL Pro Bowl Games
The NFL announced a new version of the Pro Bowl, renaming the event to encompass the entire weekend as “The Pro Bowl Games” instead. Debuting in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, the event will include skills competitions and culminate in a classic AFC vs. NFC game—in a 7 vs. 7 flag football format featuring many of the league’s stars.

College Football’s Senior Bowl
Described by SI’s Albert Breer as the “the largest collection of draftable prospects in one place outside of the combine,” the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., brings together elite NFL prospects from around the country to play. Essentially an All-Star game for college football, the Bowl serves as the unofficial starting point of draft season.

Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum
Joey Logano won the inaugural Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in 2022.

The Busch Light Clash is the season-opener for the NASCAR Cup Series, which runs through August, with playoffs beginning in September. NASCAR returns to the Coliseum for a second time after last year’s inaugural event.

65th Grammy Awards
Airing live from Crypto.com Arena, the 2023 Grammys feature new categories such as Songwriter of the Year, Best Video Game Soundtrack and Best Song for Social Change. It was recently announced that Harry Styles will perform at the show, along with other artists like Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blige, Luke Combs, Lizzo, and Sam Smith.

State of the Union
The annual message—delivered by the President to a joint session of Congress—usually occurs in the first two months of the calendar year, but sometimes it can be delayed, like in 2022 when Congress was out of session the last week of February. President Biden’s second State of the Union will take place early this month.
How to watch
The State of the Union will air on multiple channels, including ABC, CNN and CBS, at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7. It will also be streamed live on WH.gov/sotu as well as on the official social media streams of the White House.

Super Bowl LVII
This year’s Super Bowl will pit the Eagles against the Chiefs, as Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes—the first two Black starting quarterbacks to face each other in the Big Game—each try to lead his team to the Lombardi Trophy.

UEFA Champions League (Round of 16, First Leg)
The round of 16 begins in February with the first-leg matchups spread over back-to-back weeks. The second legs continue in March, with the quarterfinal and semifinal draw set for March 17. The first and second legs of the quarterfinals will take in April.

XFL Season Opening Weekend
The XFL’s relaunch is official: the fast-paced professional football league is returning this spring after failing to start up in 2020 (which was 19 years after the XFL’s very first attempt folded). The ‘23 season will run for 10 weeks, with playoffs beginning at the end of April and lasting into May.

Live coverage of the first games of the XFL’s second season will begin Saturday, Feb. 18 and continue throughout the next day, airing on ESPN, ABC and FX.
