Coming off their first loss of the season last week at Seattle, Houston travels to the east coast looking to fix an offense that was held scoreless for the first 53 minutes of its 21-14 loss to the Sea Dragons. Houston’s offense has averaged 27.2 points per game this season and lead's the league with a +60 scoring differential, as its top ranked defense has feasted on the South Division where three of their first four wins have been by double-digits.

The Defenders come into tonight with the XFL’s second-best scoring offense and third best defense, and with a win today, would open up a two-game lead on St. Louis in the North Division. D.C.’s offense features three of the top nine rushers in the league, including Abraham Smith’s league-leading 432 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu and running back Ryquell Armstead also rank among the league rushing leaders.
Houston leads the league with 19 sacks through the first five games of the season, led by the duo of linebacker Trent Harris and defensive lineman Tim Ward, who have combined for 11 sacks this season.
The Roughnecks defense is statistically ranked as the top defense in the league, allowing only 76 points this season and in the second half has been suffocating, surrendering only 24 points.
This is the lone regular season matchup between these teams this season, though both are on track to potentially meet in the XFL title game in San Antonio, Texas this May.
