After shooting a 67 on Monday to qualify for the DIO Implant LA Open, Mu Hyang Lee fired a bogey-free 65 on Thursday to take a one-shot lead into Friday's second round at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Hyo Joo Kim and Megan Khang are tied at one shot back while defending champion Nasa Hataoka joins Lucy Li and Maude-Aimee Leblanc in a tie for fourth after shooting a four-under-par 67 on Thursday. Nelly Korda, the world's No. 2 player, and older sister Jessica Korda are in a group of five players tied at three-under that also includes Ruoning Yin, Charley Hull and Perrine Delacour.

Lee played the front nine in four-under with birdies at the fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth and went to five-under with a birdie at the par-three 11th. She then strung together six straight pars before a birdie on 18 to close out the round.
Players are competing for $1.75 million purse, with the winner earning $262,500 as well as 500 points in the Race to CME Globe standings.
Moriya Jutanugarn, the winner of the inaugural LA Open in 2018, struggled to a first-round 72, part of a group of players tied for 47th at one over par. Friday evening's cut will send the top 65 players and ties to the weekend.
