How to Watch Reds at Mets: Stream MLB Live, TV Channel

Two of the National League's hottest teams collide at Citi Field as Cincinnati battles New York.

The New York Mets (70-39) extended their National League East lead to six-and-a-half games by taking four of five from the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. Now the focus shifts to the Cincinnati Reds (44-63), who have quietly won six of eight and are playing .500 baseball since their disastrous 3-22 start. New York has won 12 of its last 14 games and has won its last four series in the process. The Reds haven't lost a series since the All-Star break with three wins and a split. But Cincinnati dug too deep a hole to start the campaign and is effectively out of playoff contention at 15 games behind San Diego for the final wild-card spot.

The Mets closed out their series with Atlanta with a 5-2 win on Sunday behind a strong effort from Jacob deGrom, who fanned 12 hitters in 5.2 innings. The Reds won in 10 innings Sunday at Milwaukee, 4-2.

Right-hander Chris Bassitt will start Monday night for New York. In 20 starts, he is 8-7 with a 3.61 ERA and 1.123 WHIP in 122 innings. Bassitt won at Washington on Wednesday with seven shutout innings.

Cincinnati will recall right-hander Justin Dunn from its Triple-A Louisville affiliate to make his Reds debut. He was acquired from Seattle in March in the trade that sent Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suárez to the Mariners. He was 0-3 in seven starts at Louisville while recovering from a shoulder injury. Dunn's last major-league appearance was on June 17, 2021.
