The Rangers are out of the playoff race at this point but the Mariners are surging.

The Rangers are 49-62 on the season, good for third in the division. While that’s not a great record, it’s actually a positive step in the right direction relative to the past few seasons.

On the flip side, the Mariners have emerged this season and are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They’re 61-52 on the season and have accumulated a top-three record in the American League.

Corey Seager and Marcus Semien have proven to be quality signings for the Rangers. While they’re not going to make the postseason, the core is starting to form in Texas and is showing promise.

Although they’ll be a wild-card team, the Mariners are a club nobody wants to face. They’re improving quickly and are getting hot at the right time.

The AL West has two of the top teams in the league with the Mariners and Houston Astros. As such, the division will likely yield two postseason squads.

Regional restrictions may apply.
