Now winners of three games in a row, Texas will try to make it back-to-back wins against Oakland to open its four-game series.

The Texas Rangers (52-63) came into this week's series against the Oakland Athletics (41-75) on the back of back-to-back wins. They kept that momentum going on Monday, and now will go for a fourth consecutive win in Game 2 of the four-game series on Tuesday. Texas' pitching staff allowed just three hits in the win on Monday, resulting in just one earned run in a 2-1 win. Rangers' second baseman Marcus Semien provided an offensive spark in what was otherwise a pitchers' duel, going 2-for-4 with a home run. Bubba Thompson drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the sixth.

With that win, the Rangers now lead the season series between the two teams 9-5. However, the A's won the most recent series, taking two of three games in Oakland in late July.
