In yesterday’s matchup, the Mariners got a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning from second baseman Abraham Toro, who was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma the day before giving Seattle a 5-3 road win. The Mariners are 37-30 on the road this season, the best away record of any team in the American League wild-card chase.

The Tigers will start southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez (3-3, 3.60 ERA) looking for his third win in as many starts since returning to the rotation ten days ago. E-Rod is in the first year of a five-year deal with the Tigers and has been solid in his last two appearances allowing only one earned run in 11 innings while striking out seven.

Tigers center fielder Riley Green is 16-41 with two home runs and six RBIs over his last 10 games. The 21-year-old rookie is hitting .253 through his first 64 games in the majors.

Mariners first baseman Ty France, who leads the team with a .282 batting average, has broken out of his seven-game hitless streak with six hits and three RBIs in his last three games.
