It has been a long season for the Red Sox and the Reds. Both are out of the playoff chase and just hope to finish out the season strong. The clubs will play another two-game series after their last at the end of May. The Reds got a 2-1 win in the first meeting and then the Red Sox came back and got an overwhelming 7-1 win. 

While the Red Sox were in the playoff mix for part of the season, they are now fifth in the American League East with a 71-75 record. Meanwhile, the Reds dug themselves an early hole they haven't been able to get out. Cincinnati is in fourth place in the National League Central with a 58-89 record.

The Red Sox will hand the ball to rookie Brayan Bello. He's 1-6 with a 5.10 ERA. In his last start against the Yankees, the right-hander allowed three runs (none earned) on six hits for the loss.

Going up against Bello will be left-hander Nick Lodolo, who is 4-6 with a 3.81 ERA. He took a loss in his last start against the Pirates, allowing three runs on six hits in 6.1 innings of work.
