The Blue Jays finished second in the American League East last year and earned a wild-card bid, but lost to the Seattle Mariners in the wild-card round of the playoffs. They still have one of the best young cores in baseball, led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Cavan Biggio.
For the opening day pitching matchup, Alek Manoah will get the ball for the Blue Jays against Miles Mikolas for the Cardinals. Adam Wainwright was originally scheduled to start for the Cards but went on the IL due to a groin strain.
