The Maine Celtics (8-7) climbed over the .500 mark with a two-game road sweep earlier this week and return home to the Portland Exposition Building on Friday night to host the Grand Rapids Gold (7-6). Grand Rapids has lost its last two games and had several players out in Wednesday night's game, including all three of the team's two-way contract players as Collin Gillespie, Jay Huff and Braxton Key are all with the parent Denver Nuggets. Meanwhile, Armaan Franklin and Bruce Wills are out with ankle injuries. The Celtics don't have center Neemias Queta, as the parent Boston Celtics have the two-way player on recall, while Rob Edwards (ankle) and Jordan Schakel (knee) are also sidelined.

Maine never trailed in a 136-95 blowout of Raptors 905 in Mississauga, Ontario, on Wednesday night. DJ Steward came off the bench for 23 points and JD Davison finished with 22 points and 10 assists. Davison is averaging 20.7 points and 9.5 dimes in the regular season while Steward gets 19.8 points per game and Jordan Walsh posts 16.0 points and 7.8 rebounds a night.
The Gold never led after the first two minutes of Wednesday's 119-98 road loss to the Indiana Mad Ants. Au'Diese Toney scored 21 points, Hunter Tyson added 20 and Jalen Pickett finished with 10 points and 12 assists. Tyson averages 23.0 points and 8.5 rebounds and Pickett puts up 20.3 points and 9.1 assists per game.
This is the second regular-season meeting between the teams, with Grand Rapids getting a 112-108 win at Maine on Dec. 31.
