Two of the NFL's oldest and most successful franchises, this will be the 10th time they meet in postseason play. The 49ers lead that series 5-4, breaking the tie in the most recent playoff matchup in the divisional round of the 2021 playoffs. That game was played at Lambeau Field, and now the Packers will try to flip the script as the visitor trying to play spoiler in the postseason.

The Packers advanced to the divisional round by laying a 48-32 beating on the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium last weekend. It was a big performance and valuable road playoff game experience for first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love, who completed 16 of his 21 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.
Now Love and the Packers will face a tougher, and well-rested defense. San Francisco ranked third in the NFL allowing just 17.5 points per game this year, and that coupled with the league's third-ranked offense (28.9 points per game) helped the Niners claim the first-round bye in the NFC.
For the Niners, a win would mean a third consecutive trip to the NFC Championship Game. They've lost each of the last two, so they enter this year's playoff run with plenty of unfinished business.
