Tampa got to this point by upsetting the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles last week. The Bucs won their Monday night game convincingly, knocking off the Birds 32-9.
In their first year following the retirement of quarterback Tom Brady, the Buccaneers have remained competitive in large part due to their defense. Tampa allowed just 19.1 points per game this year, which ranked seventh in the NFL.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield has also been a big part of Tampa's success. The 2018 first-round pick had a resurgent year, after he lost his starting job and was ultimately let go by the Carolina Panthers last season. Mayfield had a big game against the Eagles, throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
