The Washington Capitals (4-3-0) opened a four-game road trip with a win on Monday night. On Thursday, the Caps visit the American Airlines Center for a meeting with the Dallas Stars (4-2-1). The Stars have dropped two straight and were 1-2-1 on their just-completed Eastern Conference road trip. Veteran NHL coach Peter DeBoer is in his first season in Dallas after two-plus seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights. Defenseman Miro Keiskanen is questionable after he left Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury. Washington has two straight wins while veterans Tom Wilson and Nicklas Backstrom have yet to play this season. Wingers Carl Hagelin (eye) and Connor Brown (lower body) are also out.

Dallas lost on Tuesday at Boston 3-1. Wyatt Johnston got his third goal of the season 1:48 into the second period to tie the game but the Stars couldn't get anything else on the board.
The Capitals won at New Jersey on Monday night 6-3. Garnet Hathaway scored midway through the second period to put Washington on top and Alex Ovechkin was credited with the game-winner, the 122nd of his career, to pass Gordie Howe for second on the all-time list.
Dallas joined the NHL when the old Minnesota North Stars relocated in 1993. Since the move, the Stars have a 24-11-5 advantage against Washington, with the teams each winning on the road last season.
