Canada continues to host the International Skating Union Championships with the World Short Track today.

The final two events on the schedule for today at the International Skating Union kick off with the Short Track Championships from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The morning and early afternoon saw two events already take place in the women’s free skate and the ice dance free dance competitions. Now the pair’s and men’s free skate competition takes over in prime time as the final two events of the day on the second of three days in Montreal for the ISU. These events are important for the best figure skaters in the world as they add to their resumes, give them momentum for future Olympic games and give them more gold medals for the record books.

In the pair’s free skate event, the favorites are the Japanese duo of Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara who are the top-ranked team in the field. They hold a massive gap between them and the second-place United States team of Emily Chan and Spencer Akira Howe.

Italy, Canada, the Czech Republic and Germany also have teams in the field looking to pull off the upset along with a second pair from Japan and the United States to round out the eight-pair field.

Over in the men’s free skate, Japan is also the favorite with the two best individual figure skaters in Kao Miura and Shoma Uno who are far and away the best two in this field.

They have figure skaters from Italy, Canada, the United States, Latvia, Switzerland and Estonia rounding out the field of 11 in competition here today.
