Australia got off to a strong start in group play beating hosts Costa Rica 3-1 in the first game. Costa Rica struck first with a goal from Alexandra Pinell Gonzales at the 19-minute mark. Las Ticas held their lead for almost 20 minutes, but Sarah Hunter tied things up at the 37-minute mark and just a minute later Bryleeh Henry scored for Australia to take the lead. The final goal of the match came from Kirsty Fenton in the 72nd minute to give Australia the victory and a good lead in the standings with a two-goal differential.
Brazil and Australia's U-20 teams have not played each other before so today's matchup should be a good game considering neither team has a decent feel for their opponent.
