Federer's chief rival over the course of his career was Rafael Nadal, as the two met 40 times on the tennis court, with Nadal leading the all-time series 24-16. They'll take to the same court one more time on Friday, but this time it will be as partners.

This will be just the second time that the two have played as a pair, as they also competed together at the 2017 Laver Cup. Their most recent meeting as competitors was in 2019 in the Wimbledon semifinals, which Federer won.

Despite Nadal leading the all-time series, Federer won six of the final seven meetings between the pair.

The Laver Cup is a team tennis tournament that pits Team Europe against Team World. It began in 2017. This year's Laver Cup is being held at the O2 Arena in London.

Regional restrictions may apply.
