Playing at Wimbledon for the first time since 2001, Martina Hingis lost to No. 18 seed Ai Sugiyama of Japan, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in the third round.
Ai Sugiyama struggled to get past 17-year-old British girl Naomi Cavaday in the opening round, but ended Martina Hingis' Wimbledon hopes.
James Blake advanced to the third round before falling apart in a five-set loss to Max Mirnyi of Belarus.
