NBA Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri will leave the Denver Nuggets' front office and become the new general manager of the Toronto Raptors, Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Toronto had been searching for a successor to former president and general manager Bryan Colangelo after the team reassigned Colangelo to a corporate position at Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment.

The Raptors had reportedly offered Ujiri a five-year deal worth nearly $3 million annually. Ujiri once served as the assistant general manager in Toronto for three years before joining the Nuggets in 2010.

Ujiri assembled a Nuggets roster that won a franchise-high 57 games but lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Ujiri is the first African-born GM in major American sports.
