Tampa Bay safety Dashon Goldson fined $30,000 for helmet-to-helmet hit

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson was fined $30,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland, according to multiple reports.

Goldson was flagged on the play for a personal foul after leading with his helmet to disrupt a pass intended for Cumberland. The Jets tight end had to leave the game to receive stitches in his chin. Cumberland was considered a "defenseless" receiver on the play which led to the personal foul call.

After the game, Goldson told reporters that he can't "play timid" and has to "play football" while the referees have a "tough job" of officiating hard hits.
