Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota connected with wide receiver Byron Marshall for a 70-yard touchdown during Monday night's College Football Playoff championship game against Ohio State.

Early in the third quarter, the Ducks took over after Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones was intercepted by linebacker Danny Mattingly.

On the next play, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota dropped back and found Marshall open over the middle. The junior caught the ball and sprinted away from two Buckeyes before dashing into the end zone.

It initially appeared as if Marshall may have dropped the ball as part of a celebration before crossing the goal line, but the play was ruled a touchdown.

The score narrowed Ohio State's lead to 21-17.
