ASTANA, Kazakhstan (AP) Kazakhstan's cycling federation says it suspended the Astana team's development squad and fired a senior official after multiple doping cases.

Kazakh federation official Kairat Kelimbetov says its internal investigation ''will be organized in full accordance with the UCI rules.''

Two Kazakh riders from the lower-tier Astana Continental Team were provisionally suspended by the International Cycling Union this month after positive tests for anabolic steroids.

The official dismissed was the general manager of the development squad.

Earlier, two riders from the top-tier Astana team tested positive for EPO, and a third was caught using an unnamed steroid.

The doping cases were revealed as the UCI's license panel considers Astana's application to retain its ProTour status in 2015.

Astana's star rider is reigning Tour de France champion Vincenzo Nibali.
