"Nobody," "Blue Jays" Among Finalists in MLB Network "Face of the Marlins" Poll
MLB Network fielded a vote the other day seeking to determine who is the "face" of the cellar-dwelling Miami Marlins. The results were unsurprising, yet still disheartening if you're a Marlins fan.
It's sad that owner Jeff Loria finished second, considering he's the villain who conned South Florida taxpayers into financing 80% of the brand new Marlins Park and then dismantled the team months after the park opened, sending much of its roster to the Blue Jays. On the bright side (?), $2.5 million of those funds helped the Fish procure that circus-like centerfield statue, which finished a formidable fifth in the poll.
