Skechers is branching out in its roster of endorsed athletes by sponsoring Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome in the horse's run up to the Belmont Stakes.

The horse and his trainers will be decked out in Skechers logos as will the stable in which he is staying -- and in the winner's circle should Chrome win the race. The company will also have the rights to use California Chrome's image in advertisements for the coming month, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.

Skechers currently endorses 2014 Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi, and is hoping to continue its run of high-profile winners. Hats off to the marketing executive who decided to target the brand at horses, who require twice as many shoes as humans, a sure way to double their profits.
